I can’t believe it’s the end of July already! We had quite the month with something happening every single weekend. It all started with a half marathon in Clontarf on the 4th of July… Note to self: train before you attempt another one!!
That same weekend we also had the major event of the month: the Little Messers’ birthday party in Meerkat Play Cafe! It was the birthday party that had been asked about since Christmas was over… It was worth the wait though, we had a great day with all their little friends and the pile of presents they got. This year they got quite a few board games and I must say these have been a big hit in our house!
There was also the big present for both of them – Mr Messer needed a bigger bike and Missy Messer was due a pedal bike after practising on the balance bike she inherited from her brother.
The other big event of the month was something completely unplanned – I happened to win a nice prize of two VIP (none the less!) tickets to the Ed Sheeran concert in Croke Park on the 25th of July, with an overnight stay at the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane including dinner and breakfast! So with babysitting sorted, that Saturday evening we happily jumped on the bus and headed to town! It was a lovely evening in Dublin as the weather held up until Sunday morning and I really enjoyed walking through the city centre, taking in the buzz and atmosphere and quite honestly, being able to chat to my dear husband without constant interruptions, ahem!
And then the gig itself, oh Ed! What can I say that hasn’t been said already? What an amazing talent, it is quite unreal how one lad and a guitar can get 84,000 people going! If you ever get the chance to go and see him live, even if you think you don’t like him (how could you possibly think that??) – I promise you, you will love him afterwards!
I think I’m in need of a holiday after all the socialising this month – between these two weekends, there was also the event of Daddy Messer’s birthday that ended up in the local pub after a nice meal and just a teeny bit staggering walk home around 2am (I mean seriously, what were we thinking?!). I think I’ve been out more during the last four weeks than I have in the five years since Mr Messer was born. I suppose it’s like waiting for a bus: after a looong wait, two or three of them arrive at the same time!
(Looking forward to a quiet August though!)
How was your July? Who went to see Ed Sheeran??
